ATLANTA – Spalding County is a Fantasy 5 hot spot with two recent jackpot winners. Jeanette McGill, 57, won $985,124 in the Jan. 24 drawing. Less than two weeks prior, Steven Reeves, 63, won $679,167 in the Jan. 14 drawing.
McGill, a resident of Sunny Side, claimed her prize Tuesday.
“I stayed up all night,” said McGill, who watched the televised drawing. “I kept calling the lottery office because I didn’t believe it.”
McGill and her husband, Marvin, haven’t decided how they will use the prize. But McGill hopes to take a vacation.
“I want to go somewhere where it’s warm,” she said.
Winning numbers from the Jan. 24 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 7-17-30-33-36. McGill purchased her Quik Pik ticket at Minit Man, 3981 North Expressway, Griffin.
Reeves, a Griffin resident, purchased his Quik Pik ticket at Orchard Hill Food Mart in Orchard Hill. The retired Delta Air Lines mechanic plans to pay off his home mortgage.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the bonus. Minit Man and Orchard Hill Food Mart each will receive $14,000.
